How We Will Work Together:
Step 1 — We get to know each other.
We talk on the phone, and I send you a list of one hundred potential questions, and you choose which ones you want to answer. I’ll also talk to your family, so they can alert me to great stories from your life. We also talk about what photos and videos you have, and the best way to gather them.
If we proceed, half the fee is due at this point.
Step 2A — I come and interview you.
I come to your home, or wherever you’d like to be interviewed. I record our interview with both a DSLR camera and an iPhone 14 Pro. I bring lights and a good microphone. I will interview you for a little more than an hour. This is easy and comfortable, and I make sure you look good. Family members can join!
Step 2B — I scan photos while I am there.
If you have set aside photos in advance, I will scan as many as I can while I am with you, then take the rest home with me. We can gather images from your photo albums, computers, phones, and from relatives. As you find more images, you can keep sending them to me, via text or email, until we finish.
Step 3 — I edit the first pass of the documentary.
I will edit a rough version of the documentary and send it to you. Then I visit you, and we discuss together what’s missing. I interview you again and ask “pick-up” questions. This may be on camera, or it may just be an audio recording. If there are photos we missed from before, I can scan them during this visit. I will have created imagery using AI, and you may suggest changes.
Step 4 — I finish the documentary.
I make all the changes and add the new interview material, photos, and videos, and deliver the final product.
At this point, the second half of the production fee is due.
Step 5 — What if there are changes?
If there is one photo to change or a piece of music to add, there is no charge. I want you to be happy. If you want to add more than 5 photos or add more interview questions, we will come up with an amount that will cover the extra work. Or — you may want to create a whole new documentary!
