MY PASSION: I have 40 years of experience creating unscripted TV, films, and documentaries. I first fell in love with documentaries when I started my career working at PBS in San Francisco. Now I am interviewing people in their 70s and 80s, and capturing their life stories in time capsules that their families can cherish forever. I feel like I’ve come full circle and I am doing what I love most.

MY PROMISE: I will direct, produce, and edit a 30-minute documentary about you. I will include 100 of your photos and videos, and also include moments from history that parallel your life experience. I will collaborate with you and your family to give you a memorable, creative experience and a finished documentary you will love.

As I launch this new part of my business, 30-minute videos will cost only $2895, and I can complete them in as little as three weeks. This offer will last through March 1st, 2026. I look forward to hearing from you!

How it Works:

Step 1 — We get to know each other.

We talk on the phone, and I send you a list of one hundred potential questions, and you choose which ones you want to answer. I’ll also talk to your family, so they can alert me to great stories from your life. We also talk about what photos and videos you have, and the best way to gather them.

If you decide to proceed, half the money is required up front.

Step 2A — I come and interview you.

I come to your home, or wherever you’d like to be interviewed. I record our interview with both a DSLR camera and an iPhone 14 Pro. I bring lights and a good microphone. I will interview you for a little more than an hour. This is easy and comfortable, and I make sure you look good. Family members can join!

Step 2B — I scan photos while I am there.

If you have set aside photos, I will have a scanner with me, and I will scan as many photos as I can. I can take the rest home with me. Typically, people find photos on their computers, phones, and with relatives. You can keep sending them to me, via text or email.

Step 3 — I edit the first pass of the documentary.

I edit a rough version of the documentary and then send it to you. Then I come visit and we discuss together what’s missing. I then interview you again and ask “pick-up” questions. This may be on camera again, or it may just be an audio recording. If there are any photos we missed from before, I can scan them again. I have also created some imagery using AI, and you may suggest changes.

Step 4 — I finish the documentary.

I make all the changes and add the new interview material and photos, and videos, and then deliver to you the final product. However, if there is an extra photo or two to add after it’s done, it’s fine. That’s typical.

The second half of the producing fee is due now.

Step 5 — What if there are more changes?

If there is one photo to change or a piece of music to add, that is no charge. We are friends at this point, and I want you to be happy. If you want to add more than 5 photos, or add more interview questions, we will come up with a pro-rated fee to cover the extra work. Or — you may want to create a whole new documentary!
